Who's Out?
I remember seeing similar ideas about bathroom and drink procedures while searching the web. *If you know of an idea similiar to this, let me know and I will link it*.
I made this poster to help my students become more responsible when taking bathroom and drink breaks. All of my students have a number since the first day of school. This helps me organize in so many ways, including for my "Who's Out?" bathroom and drink passes.
Each day students get one morning and one afternoon pass to use to go to the bathroom or get a drink. If they need more than that they get 2 emergency passes per week they can use. When a student has to go to the bathroom or get a drink they write their name under the "Who's Out?" sign and cross off their number for the morning or afternoon pass they used. When they return they erase their name to signify that they are back. If they use an emergency pass they take their clothes pin with their number and pin it to the emergency pass that they are using.
I allow one girl and one boy out at a time. By having students write their name it helps their classmates know if they need to wait to go. If a girl's name is already written, the next girl I give permission knows she has to wait until the other student returns.
I explain to students that when they use the bathroom during class time they are missing out on learning. So I encourage students to go during recess and lunch. These times also happen to be freebies, so students are happy that they don't have to use a pass. Some days students even brag to me that they only used freebies that day. |
